Water Safety for Children: 5 Tips to Keep Them Out of Danger

Water safety is one of the most important skills children need to learn. Suzy, with her pink polka dot floaters, was happy playing in the swimming pool, while her mom was only a few inches away. But all of a sudden, the phone rang. Suzy’s mom went to answer the phone that she placed on the table. Then, the unthinkable happened: one the floaters came loose and Suzy was struggling in the water.

But this scenario doesn’t have to happen. When parents have the proper safety precautions, children are more aware of their surroundings and how to stay safe around the water. And the statistics are even more convincing that child drowning is becoming a serious issue – 1 in 5 children drown every year because of adult distractions while supervising children.
